The sizing of the Aluminium Compressed Air Piping System should be determined carefully so as to minimize the pressure drop in the piping system. When compressed air flows through the pipes, its pressure drops due to the friction between the air & the surface of the pipe & also due to friction between adjacent layers of compressed itself. These friction losses account for major losses in the piping system. Other pressure losses occur when compressed air passes through various fitting, bends, valves, etc. which account for minor losses.
